| What do you think the impact of IPL would be? Will ICC fully support this shorter version of the game? Now itself they have got a big head ache of freeing up the team schedule for the IPL and views have started pouring in that players are interested more on IPL because of money and not concentrating in the matches. So will this destruct the spirit of other form of the games? |

Well I think true spirit of game will die and now players will play for money and not for their nations. But other positive aspect is if you will perform you will have better chance to get maximum money and that somehow will improve the performance of the players.
This game cricket have really huge money and since this is another religious of world largest economy so every one ... big companies ... media ... players ... cine stars are just capitalising it. |

well its quite unfortunate to see that u all feel IPL will kill the true spirit of cricket
i have a different view. I feel IPL will increase the fanbase & competitiveness of cricket!!
& lately but surely ICC will have to give recognition to IPL.
also IPL may not affect passion for country based cricket as it is played for only a few weeks in a year & for rest of time, players are free to play for their country
IPL is similar to any league in other sports , be it EPL in soccer or any other
Its just that IPL is a new approach in cricket , so people have apprehensions abt it |

| I certainly beleive it has the chance to increase the fan base, there is no way i would watch or go to a 5 day test however shorter more 'go for it' cricket most certainly appeals to me. As for reducing the national game, I don't think it wil at all |

| It is obvious now that the trend is changing over times. The all new format of T20 will surely increase the competitiveness in the game. They will be forced to play well in order to get the pay well. Also the fan club will be more as the game will end in a very shorter period. |

well the impact was clearly visible in the 1st game itself!
the way RCs bowlers were torn apart by McCullum raises alarm for bowlers around the world
its not the Bowler's game anymore, Batsmen are king here & thats the future of world cricket now |

| I think that this forms of game do something more for youngers cricketer. Glammers is compulessery for success but give more chances to youngers cricketers, all great and famous cricketer played best but how can talent hunt if no give them chance to played first. |

vijuoberoi - you should check your spelling before posting... (why not install the google toolbar with spell check)
Yes - the young generation will go with 20Twenty as the future of all games lies in a fast and quick format with immediate results. |

Yep agree with that thought vijuoberoi, I wrote in another thread about how when all us oldies are gone Test Matches will die out, then as the 30 to 40's now diw off the 50'Fifty Matches will also disappear

I hear you bud and that attitude is carried into life in general, we all did/do it, love the glam and success, it's the order of the day in every walk of life IMHO-OC. Good post mate |

in 2 years the IPL will sweep over the whole world and no other cricket tours will take place while the IPL goes on.
If you see all other tours going on during the IPL are not getting much sponsorship revenue thanks to the IPL |
