| Just now i wonder on why no foreign players were appointed as captains for any of the teams? Are there any special reasons for that. Or is it because of the reason that is started by the BCCI, only indians have been appointed as captains? Do you think that they also must have given the chance to captain the teams? |

there is a foreign captain my dear, Shane Warne
of course they should have been more but as its a Indian domestic League, started by Indian board so its obvious that most of the captains are Indians. Also the players who are made captains are big names in India so they are the safe Bet for BCCI to appoint as captains |

| But yes, they could have had Ponting, Brett Lee, Jaisuriya as captains - they got more experience than some of the players playing captain now... |

| Yes there are no foreign captain except from shane warne. Why do we need foreign captain? This is an indian domestic competition. Rajasthan made Shane Warne captain because they had no other choice as they appointed him coach as well. |

| i dont think people will be able to connect to teams with jayasurya as captain as they will be with ateam with sachin as captain and same for dada or dravid, these players are demi gods for their supporters and this competition being an indian one where players from other countries are just an added attraction it would have been unfair for a team to have a foriegn captain when a local player of a icon status was available, ofcourse jaipur was a exception because there are hardly any playing cricketers that i know of who hail from jaipur or rajasthan. |

I may be mistaken, but I thought that the IPL was a franchise based competition, rather than an Indian domestic competition - more along the lines of the English Premier League football competition. Each team is privately owned and comprises the best players that the owner's money can buy - including choosing the best captain (whatever nationality they are).
In addition to Shane Warne captaining Rajastan Royals, Adam Gilchrist captained Deccan for about half of their games, once Laxman was injured. |
