D Y Patil Stadium to host IPL Final

The IPL final earlier scheduled to be held at the Wankhade Stadium on the 1st of June, 2008 will now be held at the D Y Patil Stadium at Navi Mumbai. Not only the Stadium has better capacity than Wankhade but also provides better amneties for the Video Crew who needs much space for their entire range of equipments to be laid out.
The Mumbai Cricket Association managing committee met today under the chairmanship of Sharad Pawar and it was decided to hold the final at the Nerul stadium.

Sharad Pawar speaking to reporters after the meeting said that it was decided to hold the final at the D Y Patil stadium, since a lot of people from neighbouring cities like Pune and Nashik have shown interest in witnessing the match and have inquired about the same. Since D Y Patil stadium is more convenient and also as it has a capacity of 55000, about 15000 more than the Wankhede stadium, it was decided to hold the final at the D Y Patil stadium.
Pawar, however added that the matches to be played on May 16 and 21 and the two semifinals on May 30 and 31 will be played at the Wankhede stadium.
