Marsh helps Kings XI secure positon in semi-finals
May 24th, 2008Shaun Marsh continued his batting blitzkrieg with his forth Man of the Match - award in the Indian Premier League, hitting 60 in the Kings XI Punjab’s win over Deccan Chargers.
Marsh scored his fifth half-century in a totoal of eight games with three fours and three sixes before getting caught with a half-hearted hit off Herschelle Gibbs at long-on.
Kings XI Punjab made 4-178 with three balls to spare chasing Deccan’s impressive total of 4-175 at the Punjab’s Mohali ground.
Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara smashed 50 off just 25 balls in an 84-run opening partnership with Marsh in juts 7.4 overs.

Australian Luke Pomersbach was not that successful as Marsh and made only made 13.
In this respect it is important to note that Shaun Marsh cost only $32,000 at auction for IPl Mohali, happens to be the tournament’s second-leading scorer with 438 runs at an average of 73.00 behind Indian Gautam Gambhir’s 504 for the Delhi Devils.
The victory yesterday assured Kings XI Punjab of a berth in the Semi Finals just behind Shane Warne’s team - Rajasthan Royals who are positioned at No 1.
