Cricket Tri Nation Series - Pakistan Team Review

Tri Nation Series

Team in Review: Pakistan

Pakistan are a very good side but they miss an all rounder like Azhar Mahmood or Abdul Razzak who probably were not handled properly by the board and the selectors and ended up joining the Indian Cricket League. A genuine all rounder in the team and this could be the side to beat.

Led by Shoaib Malik they had a clean sweep over Bangladesh in April. Exclusion of Asif has made India firm favorites to lift the trophy.

Sreesanth out of Bangladesh Tri-Series due to injury

June 6th, 2008

Indian bowler Sreesanth recently involved in the slap-gate controversy with Harbhajan Singh, will not be playing the Bangladesh Tri Series due to back injury. The rigorous and hectic schedule of the recently concluded IPL where the teams played more than fourteen games traveling from one region to another has taken its first toll on the Indian National ODI Team.

Sreesanth had quite a performance in IPL where he played for the IPL Jaipur Team - Kings XI Punjab where he bagged 19 wickets conceding 442 runs at an economy arte of 8.65. The absence of Sreesanth will definitely affect the pace battery of the Indian ODI team . However there are enough talents right now like Laximipathi Balaji among others and it should not be difficult to feel up the space,

Sreesanth would be reporting to the Bangalore Fitness Camp for further assessment of his condition before it is known for how long he would be absent from the National Side.

Cricket Tri Nation Series - Bangladesh Team Review

June 6th, 2008

Tri Nation Series

Team in Review: Bangladesh

Bangladesh cricket right now stands in the same phase as Sri Lankan cricket did 20 years back and 10 years down the line they probably will be a more powerful cricketing nation. The facilities, the standard of domestic cricket and the amount of international exposure, all are on the up.

Bangladesh are led by the talented batsman Mohammad Ashraful who impressed one and all when he stepped on to the international stage. Captain has a good amount of influence on the team but the larger part of the path to success has to be traversed by team performances. Ashraful has all the talent in the world but he himself has been disappointing which shows in his averages of around 25 and 22 in tests and ODIs respectively.

Champions League – A 20Twenty Cricket Feast

June 6th, 2008

The efforts to organize Champions League, a knock out competition between the top two teams of the domestic T20 tournaments in various countries are well on the way. In all likeliness the tournament will be held in a 10 day window that exists in the ICC calendar between the final of the Champions trophy on September 28th and the start of the Bangalore test between India and Australia on October 9th. Most of the things are in place with Board presidents co-ordinating with each other except for the Venue which can well be UAE or India.

Popular belief says that this tournament isn’t going to be much interesting because the Indian Premier League sides will prove too much for others but this tournament could well end the same way as IPL did for those who had written out Rajasthan Royals. If the tournament as it is likely is staged in England the local players in IPL sides will have their task cut out with the ball seaming and swinging.

Asif replaced by Sohail Khan in Pak ODi Team

June 4th, 2008

Pak player Asif, arrested in UAE recently for possession of Drugs has been replaced by Sohail Khan in the Pak ODI team as release of Yusuf might take more time.

UAE has very strict laws against Drug Trafficking and the penalty can be long term jail for any offenders irrespective of nationality. Earlier the Pakistan Cricket Control Board denied the charges saying that Asif was merely carrying some performance boosting herbal medicine recently purchased by him.

Asif plated for the Delhi Daredevils in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) and was selected for the Pak ODI Team for the Bangladesh tri-series which kicks off on the 8th of June with India as the third participant.
