Cricket Asscn of Bengal - CAB to appoint new CEO before IPL

March 28th, 2008

As per BCCI guidelines, CAB is looking out for a competent and experienced person to appoint as the CEO for CAB preferable with a management background.

CAB Joint Secretary Samar Paul said that its important for the person to have administrative capabilities though that they must have some connection with the sporting
arena. We don’t want someone who feels like a fish out of water, trying to handle sports administration,” Paul said. He informed that the CEO will send reports of the day-to-day activities to the joint-secretaries.

The proposal to appoint the CEO will have to be ratified at the working committee meeting of the CAB on April 28. Meanwhile, the Calcutta Police has objected to the Red Chillies Entertainment’s, the owners of the Kolkata Knight Riders, decision to have punching machines for the checking of tickets at the entrance gates of the Eden Gardens for the
IPL matches.

Commissioner of Police Goutam Mohan Chakraborty told the CAB president Prasun Mukherjee and representatives of the Red Chillies group on Monday that if a punching machine conks off in any of the gates, it can lead to a huge chaos.
“The Red Chillies representative has told us that there will be alternative machines, but we don’t rule out the option of manual ticket checking at the gates as well,” Paul added.

The Kolkata Police will also be charging fees for maintaining the security and law and order during the matches. “This is the first time we’ll charge fees for matches at the Eden Gardens. This tournament has a commercial interest and that’s why we have taken the decision,” DC headquarters Vineet Goyal said, adding that the amount will be decided
in due course.

Kolkata isa city of avid sport lovers and also they love politics equally. Lets see who finally gets to occupy the coveted chair or maybe we will again see the red adminstration once again poking their long noses in this affair too.

Shah Rukh Khans Kolkata Knight Riders mired in IPL Twenty20 ticket row

March 26th, 2008

Kolkata Knight Riders team owner and
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has landed in a soup over ticket
distribution of DLF IPL Twenty20 matches.

Cricket Members Forum of Bengal has filed a case in a Kolkata court
challenging the authority of Cricket Association of Bengal to
distribute tickets for the tournament.

The forum wants free tickets to all its members for matches in Eden
Gardens. The forum claimed in the suit that as per Rule 15 (ii) of
Cricket Association of Bengal forum members were eligible for free
tickets. The court is hearing the matter on Wednesday.

“According to Rule-15 of CAB constitution all life members,
associate members and affiliated members are supposed to get free
tickets for all matches organised by the Board of Control for Cricket
in India. We are 31,000 members and this match is not for any
benevolent cause or charity. So, there is no reason why we will not get
our free tickets,” Cricket Members’ Forum of Bengal Convener, Abhijit
Sarkar said.

SRK among all will sure find a way around this somehow!
